Welcome!

Thank you for visiting my website! This section is all about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toys made by playmates from 1988 to 1997.

As a child I loved the Turtles and thought the movie was amazing! The toyline was fantastic with brightly coloured crazy characters that were hugely popular. It is no wonder that the vintage line went on for ten years! The Turtles are still popular today with new cartoons and movies regularly coming out! It is a toyline that has really lasted throught the ages!

Navigating the Turtles toy guides

Above, you can see a number of different boxes. You can visit each year that the TMNT toys were produced by clicking on the boxes that run from 1988-1997.

I will be looking to add individual guides for each toy but for now I hope that you enjoy my toy guide and that it helps you with your collecting.

A BRIEF TMNT HISTORY

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles characters were created by the comioc book artists Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. The first issue was published in 1984 by Eastman and Laird’s company Mirage Studios and was a success.  In 1987 Eastman and Laird licensed the chracters to Playmates toys and a line of TMNT characters  were developed. Between 1988 and 1992 about $1.1 billion of Turtles toys were sold! This made them the third best-selling toy figures ever made at the time (behind Star Wars and G.I. Joe)!

The action figures were promoted with the Turtles cartoon which premiered in 1987. The cartoon ran for nearly ten years. Various other cartoons and movies have been made over the years.
