Zartan

Zartan is a master of disguise. His mission is to spy on Action Force and to report back to Cobra. His strategy is to change colour depending on his surroundings. Further deception is achieved by donning a face mask.

Zartan was a master of disguise and he was made into a great figure. He came exclusively with the Swamp Skier/ Chameleon vehicle. He came with a pistol, a backpack, a facemask, chest armour, knee pads and some heat sensitive stickers.

The facemask could be stored inside the back pack. The mask could be placed over Zartan’s face giving him the appearance of someone else.

The heat sensitive stickers went on the chest armour and knee pads. They turned maroon when cold, aqua at room temperature and blue when hot. The stickers are very fragile and often missing. The pictures on this page do not include the heat sensitive stickers.

The Swamp Skier/ Chameleon could be turned into a box of scrap and with the face mask in place Zartan and his vehicle were both disguised!

Body Mould

Zartan had a bare chest and his face was covered by a hood. The hood enabled the facemask to be securely be put over his face and it would stay in place. His upper thighs have two holes on them and this is where the knee pads could be connected to him. The chest armour clicked on his front.

This figure is a bot more compliacted when an “O” ring repair is needed (O rings hold the figures body together and sometimes need to be replaced). His figure is not as easy to take apart as the body is stuck together (unlike most other Action Force and G.I. Joe figures). To take him apart and change an “O” ring, a scalpel needs to be carefully used to open his body up. Otherwise his chest section cannot be pulled apart like most other figures.

G.I. JOE U.S. RELEASE

Despite being released in the U.K. in 1985, Zartan was first released in the U.S. in 1984. He was released exclusively with the Swamp Skier (Chameleon). It had different packaging and stickers to the Action Force version.

DATAFILE

Datafiles could be found in the Battle Action Force comics. They contained lots of information about the characters and had some great artwork. Zartan’s datafile is in 3D hence why it appears blurred.
