DESERT RAT

The Desert Rat figure came with an M60 machine gun and a brown detonator. 

He comes in full desert fatigues and was the only figure to come in shorts!

The  Desert Rat figure was based on the original Action Man Long Range Desert Group uniform.  He was released as part of the first twelve figures in the early summer of 1982.

Body Mould

The Desert Rat had a moulded head covering with goggles on his forehead. He had a shirt with arms rolled up and shorts. He also had webbing on his torso which had ammo pouches on the front and a water bottle on the back. He has tall boots on his feet.

The Desert Rat came with an M60 machine gun and a brown detonator.

PACKAGING

The Desert Rat figure came as a carded figure. His card is one of the harder to find.

File Card

On the back of the card back you could see pictures of other figures and vehicles available in the Action Force line. There was also a mail order offer for the Commander figure. Each figure had a form on the back of the card and one medal with a number in it. Five medals could be attached to the form and sent off to get a Commander figure. The Desert Rat medal number was 3.

LOOKS FAMILIAR

The brown detonator also came with the 2 Para figure and the U.S. Paratrooper. 

There were different coloured detonators that came with different figures and packs. Click on the detonator image below to go to the detonator page. 

The M60 also came with the second series SAS Commando, Z Force Sapper, SAS Stakeout (Boat Patrol), the SAS battle gear and a variant of the enemy battle gear.
