The ladder back packs came with a ladder inside them. These packs and their ladders came with:

•  The first series Arctic Assault (in white)
• The first series Ground Assault (in tan)
• A green ladder back pack also came with the second series Z Force Battle Gear. 

The ladders could be stored in the packs and taken out. They folded in three parts for storage in the packs.
