1983 (series 2)

COBRA OFFICER

The Cobra Officer was released in 1983 a spart of series 2. He was sold in 1984 and discontinued in 1985.

He was available in “The Original Adventure Team” mail order set through Hasbro Direct. He came in a plastic bag and was packaged with nine other figures. In 1989 he was available in bags through Hasbro Direct.

The Cobra Officer came with a machine gun and backpack. They have a lovely silver Cobra emblem on their chest, but this often gets worn away. They look similar to Cobra troopers but there are a number of differences. The officers have a different face and body mould.

The Cobra Officer mould was also used for the Driver.

LOOKS FAMILIAR

The Cobra looks quite similar to the Cobra Officer and I used to get mixed up with some of their parts! There are a number of differences between them. The Cobra eyes look like they have raised eyebrows and the Officer eyebrows looks more stern. Below is a picture showing the differences.

1982 STRAIGHT ARM RELEASE

In 1982 a straight arm version of the Cobra Officer was previously released. The 1983 swivel arm battle grip release was the upgrade.

ACTION FORCE RELEASE

The Cobra Officer’s were also released as part of the Palitoy Action Force (U.K. and Europe) toyline in 1985.

The mould was also used for the second series figure Hunter and the third series Cobra Driver.
