1987

THE DRILLER

The Driller was released in 1987 as part of the last series. He was released on a cardback in a plastic bubble as part of the “Rampager” figures. He has a mechanism on his back and when the lever is pulled inwards the three drill leg parts spin around. He stands when the three leg parts are spread out.

He is one of the rarest Thundercats figures and can be really hard to find!

BODY MOULD

PARTS

The Driller came with three drill leg parts that were attached at his waist. They were not really supposed to be removed but they were only connected by a hinge and so would come off. They all look identical on the outside, but on the inside they each have a letter “A,” “B” or “C.” The “A” drill part has the makers marks and date stamped on it. It reads ‘1987 LJN TOYS LTD. LORIMAR – TELEFIX LCI 7 WOLF.’

THE MECHANISM

The Driller figure has a rotating drill mechanism. A trigger on his back is squeezed and this makes the three drill legs spin around. You can watch this on the video to the right. A like and subscribe would be hugely appreciated!

PACKAGING

The Driller came packaged on a cardback in a plastic clear bubble. The cardback came in English and on a multi language cartdback.

You will notice that on the back of the card it shows two other Rampager figures called Stinger and the Mad Bubbler. However, the Mad Bubbler was never released.
