Visionaries toys were made by Hasbro and a cartoon series was also made in 1987. The cartoon was created by Sunbow Productions and 13 episodes were made. After the cartoon series Hasbro launched 12 figures and four vehicles. A second wave of figures were planned for 1988, but unfortunately the cartoon and toyline only lasted one year. The figures had holograms on their chests and staffs and this made their production more expensive than other competing toylines. 

The rarest figure and vehicle is easily Reekon and the Dagger Assault vehicle. This figure and vehicle can be extremely hard to find!

The storyline is set on the planet Prysmos where there was highly advanced technology. Unfortunately, the science and technology ceases to work and the people are forced to rely on magic. The Visionaries consisted of two factions: The good Spectral Knights led by Leoric, and the evil Darkling Lords led by Darkstorm. The Visionaries had special powers that enabled them to transform into animals. They also possessed staffs with special abilities. Those without staffs were able to pilot magical vehicles.
