SIDEWINDER

The Sidewinder was released as part of series three. It is comes under the Starwing battle group. The Star Wing Battle Group is Starcom’s air and space fleet

The technical profile states that its mission profile is: High-speed strafing; air/space harassment. In transport mode it closes to standard cargo pod size so it can be carried by other Starcom vehicles. In fighter mode it opens to deploy the fuselage, wings, cannon turret and pilot cockpit.

POWER DEPLOY

The Sidewinder has a power deploy mechanism to put it in battle mode. The power mechanism works by turning the top cannon 180 degrees. This makes the vehicle turn into Fighter mode. The top cannon pops up and the guns extend. The wings also pop up. You can see how it works by watching the video below. The cockpit opensby pressing the small button next to it.

PARTS

The Sidewinder has two wings that come off quite easily and a cockpit canopy.

INCLUDED FIGURE

The Mattel version of this vehicle included a random figure. The Coleco version did not have an included figure.

The Mattel version of the Sidewinder came with a random Starcom figure. A specific figure was not assigned to the vehicle. In the later series carded figures were added to the vehicles instead of them having specific pilots/ drivers.

PACKAGING

The Sidewinder was supplied in a box with cardboard inserts and plastic bags for parts and stickers. It came in a Coleco branded box as well as a Mattel branded box.
