PACKAGING

Cobra’s came as carded figures but also came boxed with the Action Pack and the F.A.N.G. helicopter. The Cobra’s that came with the F.A.N.G. helicopter did not have a rifle.

The figure cards continued to have the mail order offer. You collected five medals and could then send off for a free mail order figure. The mail order figure with this series was the Infantryman.

LOOKS FAMILIAR

The Cobra looks quite similar to the Cobra Officer and I used to get mixed up with some of their parts! There are a number of differences between them. The Cobra eyes look like they have raised eyebrows and the Officer eyebrows looks more stern. Below is a picture showing the differences.

G.I. JOE U.S. RELEASE

Despite being released in the U.K. in 1985, Cobra’s were first released in the U.S. in 1982.

DATAFILE

Datafiles could be found in the Battle Action Force comics. They contained lots of information about the characters and had some great artwork.
