SF/B STARHAWK

The SF/B Starhawk is a strategic fighter/ bomber that comes under the Starwing battle group. It was piloted by LT. Jeff Carrier. However, when Mattel took over Starcom, CAPT. Secret was sometimes supplied instead of LT. Jeff Carrier. In some cases both LT. Jeff Carrier and CAPT. Secret were supplied with the vehicle!

The wings could both be folded up. There are two buttons and when pressed, spring-action landing gears lower down. There are two lever activated cockpit hatches. When pushed, the pilot and gunner seats lower down and can be accessed to put figures in and out.

The Starhawk has a power deploy mechanism to put it in battle mode. When a button is pressed the, mechanism separates the fuselage to deploy the railgun cannon. Unfortunately this mechanism is quite notorious for becoming damaged over time.

The technical profile states that the vehicle was used for missile-bombing runs, strafing, airspace dogfighting, convoy and base defence. A larger picture of the technical profile is at the bottom of the page.

STANDBY MODE

BATTLE MODE

The Starhawk had a power deploy mechanism to put it in battle mode. The power deploy button is found next to the square magnet on the top. When the button is pressed, the mechanism separates the fuselage to deploy the railgun cannon.

Unfortunately this mechanism is quite notorious for becoming damaged over time. I have owned a number of Starhawks and often figure visors fall inside the ship and its mechanism and come out crushed or damaged. Listen for a rattling sound if you have one as it may be a lost visor!

POWER DEPLOY

The power deploy button is found next to the square magnet on the top. When the button is pressed, the mechanism separates the fuselage to deploy the railgun cannon. Below is a video showing how the Power deploy should work.

After the Power deploy button was pressed the Starhawk fuselage separates and the railgun cannon pops out.

PARTS

The Starhawk came with two teraforce high explosive missile bombs and two megalaser guns (high energy laser weapons). These four parts came off easily and many have been lost over the years. The guns had holes that could be placed onto pegs at the front of the vehicle. The bombs slid into clips under the wings.

INCLUDED FIGURE/S

The Starhawk originally came with the figure LT. Jeff Carrier. However, after Mattel took over the company CAP. Secret was also supplied. The Starhawk would then come with either LT. Jeff Carrier or CAP. Secret (or in some cases if you were really lucky both!).

LT. Jeff Carrier was the original figure that came with the Starhawk vehicle.

After Mattel took over Starcom, CAP. Secret was also supplied with the Starhawk.

INSTRUCTIONS (COLECO)

The Starhawk was released by Coleco and Mattel and so instructions were produced by both companies. Below are pictures of the Coleco instructions.

PACKAGING

The Starhawk was supplied in a box with cardboard inserts and plastic bags for parts and stickers. It came in a Coleco branded box as well as a Mattel branded box.
