Second son of a shipyard worker in Glasgow. Joined Royal Navy straight from school. Sheer ability force him through the ranks to become Commander of a Destroyer. Action Force recruited him as the  best man available. Passed Deep Sea Diving Course top of class. Experienced diver.

The Deep Sea Defender “Leviathan” came with a red weapon that was used as an aerial in many Action Force vehicles. He also came with a red pack, clear plastic tube and a blue rubber band. The band connected the pack to his back. The clear tube could connect the pack to the weapon. The pack originally came with the G.I. Joe Jump figure in a different colour.

Body Mould

The Deep Sea Defender came in with moulded boots and diving suit with helmet. The helmet had a hole in it and so the clear plastic tube from AF7 could be placed in it and used. He has straps across his chest and a dagger on his left lower leg. The Q Force logo is on each shoulder. 

 

ACCESSORIES

The Deep Sea Defender came with a red (aerial type) weapon and a red back pack. He also came with a blue rubber band so that the red backpack could be attached. A clear tube connected the weapon to the back pack. The aerial type weapon was used as an aerial on vehicles such as the the first series AF3 Special Patrol Vehicle and AF7 Deep Sea Diver vehicle.

He was also known to come with a blue aerial type weapon. This was also supplied with the Space Force Cosmic Cruiser and Satellite Defence.

PACKAGING

The Deep Sea Defender came as a carded figure.

File Card

Information about the figure could be found on the back of the figures file card (the Datafile information). Each figure also had an individual medal number for the mail order offer. The Deep Sea Defender number was 34. 

VARIANTS

Version one of the Deep Sea Defender had soft plastic limbs, a long clear hose, a red aerial weapon and a brown elastic band. Version two had a short clear hose, a blue aerial and a blue elastic band. 

LOOKS FAMILIAR

The Deep Sea Defender’s figure mould was a repaint of the first series Deep Sea Diver. The German version of the Deep Sea Defender was called Leguan.

 It is also very similar to the Red Shadows Muton figure (and the German Robott figure).

The Deep Sea Defender’s red weapon was used as an aerial on the first series AF3 and AF7 vehicles. The blue version was used in the Space Force Cosmic Cruiser and Satellite Defence. It was also used in the the German Nahkampf Schitten vehicle and the Raumgleiter.

The Deep Sea Defender’s red backpack was originally used with the G.I. Joe Jump figure (the pack that went with the G.I. Joe Jump is on the right). 

DATAFILE

Datafiles could be found in the Battle Action Force comics. They contained lots of information about the characters and had some great artwork.
