HYENA
The Hyena tank came with the Red Jackal figure. It had a drivers seat with a windscreen/ canopy that could be raised and lowered. Another figure could be placed in the gun turret which moved around. The guns could also be moved up and down.
The Hyena tank was a repaint of the G.I. Joe H.I.S.S. tank. The Hyena came in red to fit in with the Red Shadows colours. The vehicle came with the figure Red Jackal who was a repaint of the G.I. Joe figure Destro.
The gun placement could be turned around 360 degrees and the guns could move up and down. Over time many of these tank guns have lost the ability to point upwards and stay in place. They become loose over time. The Hyena had wheels on the underside so it could be pushed along and it it also had a tow hook for towing other vehicles.

The Hyena did not really come with any loose parts as the gun and canopy were connected to the vehicle. However sometimes the guns and canopy do come off. The canopy is often broken when it is removed.
A small red piece held the guns in place and a sticker covered where the red piece connected. The guns stayed on quite well but have been known to come off.

PACKAGING
The Red Shadows Hyena came boxed with the Red Jackal figure.
VARIANTS
The Red Shadows Hyena was a repaint of the Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank. It was identical (except in colour) to the Cobra Hyena vehicle in series three. The Cobra Hyena tanks were released with a Cobra Hyena Tank driver (identical to the Escape Armour Pilot) in 1985. Due to surplus some red Hyena tanks were packaged as Cobra Hyena tanks.
The Red Shadows Hyena was released in 1983 and 1984. It was the same as the Cobra Hyena (1985) but was red and came with the Red Jackal figure. The Red Shadows Hyena and Cobra Hyena both had dark grey tracks and guns. The G.I.Joe version came with black guns and tracks.
G.I. JOE U.S. RELEASE
In 1983 the Hyena was released as part of the G.I. Joe toy line. It was named the Cobra H.I.S.S. It had different stickers and a different box to the Red Shadows Hyena. It came with the H.I.S.S. Tank Drivr who was identicle to the Hyena Tank Driver.
DATAFILE
Datafiles could be found in the Battle Action Force comics. They contained lots of information about the vehicles and characters and had some great artwork.
