POP-UP LIGHT SABER
The pop-up light saber came with the POTF R2-D2 (pop-up light saber) and the Droids cartoon R2-D2 figure. The POTF version is green in colour and the Droids version is a darker green colour. The Glasslite version is a lighter green colour than both of the others.
The weapons have many different variations due to the different places they were made. Initially this guide will contain weapons that represent the standard Kenner released versions.
SPOTTING REPRO
The pop-up light saber is one of the rarest figure accessories. Originals should float in water but more modern repro items can sometimes also be found to float.
Many repros of this item are painted and can mark paper if put against it. Repros that are painted, are known to be black underneath the paint and pale green.
A sound test can be conducted by dropping the weapon carefully onto a hard surface. Repro items make a different sound when compared to original items.
